Our Kiwanis club participates in a variety of projects throughout the year that involve community service, philanthropy, and assisting the children and citizens of Carmel and Hamilton County. Additionally, we frequently have speakers at our club meetings to explore topics of interest to the membership.
We also engage in a number of social activities to share experiences, talents and our collective interests. All represent great opportunities for service, friendships and personal growth.
Riley Hospital for Children
Fundraising through dedicated philanthropy projects. We also collect ‘Happy Dollars’ at each club meeting that goes to Riley at the end of the year. Our 2023 contribution was $5000!
We contribute to service projects like the Kiwanis Parent Komfort Kart, providing toiletries, hygiene products, pillows, blankets, snacks and more to parents that might arrive at the hospital in a rush.
St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church – Gardening
In appreciation to St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church for their gracious use of space for our club meetings, we help in the “St. Chris Crops” garden which grows vegetables for distribution at nearby food pantries.
Carmel Marathon Water Stop
Each year we gather on the morning of the Carmel Marathon to setup a hydration station to fuel runners and walkers! Afterwards, we celebrate by going to brunch together.
Shepherd’s Center of Hamilton County
Our club members provide yard work for elderly individuals. We also volunteer to assist with helping them to live an independent life with rides, technology and forming friendships.
Hamilton Count Kids Coats
Kids Coats distributes thousands of coats annually and helps connect families with other service providers. We help sort and pack coats for distribution. And, we partner with this organization to provide staff for their annual Ribfest fundraiser.
Children’s TherAplay
At the Children’s TherAplay Foundation, children with disabilities and/or unique needs receive physical, occupational and speech therapy suing animal therapy, specifically with horses. We actively volunteer for their annual Hoe Down fundraiser and Horsepower 500 carnival. And, we sidewalk alongside the children on their horses!
Brooke’s Place
Each December we donate hand-made blankets to the ‘Holiday Store’ which provides children the opportunity to select and wrap gifts for family members. Brooke’s Place provides support therapy services to young people in the midst of grief over losing a loved one.
Changing Footprints
Shoe donation for distribution to homeless, disaster-stricken, or underprivileged people.
